Tulisan makalah ini berupa rangkuman dari hasil penyelidikan endapan fosfat di daerah Madura yang dilakukan oleh Sub Direktorat Eksplorasi Mineral Industri dan Batuan, berlangsung dari tahun 1994 sampai dengan tahun 1999, meliputi Kabupaten Sampang, Pamekasan dan Kabupaten Sumenep.

Kisaran kadar P2O5 di daerah, Sampang 2,28 - 37,09 %, Pamekasan 5,61 - 37,79 %, Sumenep 6,20 % - 44,23 %, dengan jumlah sumberdaya fosfat di daerah Kabupaten, Sampang sekitar 5.000.000 m3, Pamekasan sekitar 23.400 m3, dan di Sumenep sekitar 827.500 m3 .

Berdasarkan kandungan P2O5 endapan fosfat di daerah, Sampang sebagian besar dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk alam, sebagian kecil lagi sebagai bahan baku pupuk super fosfat (SP36), Pamekasan sekitar 55 % dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk alam dan sebaian kecil sebagai pupuk super fosfat (SP36). Di daerah Sumenep dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk alam dengan kualitas A sebanyak 22 lokasi (sekitar 48,9 % dari seluruh jumlah lokasi), dengan kualitas C sebanyak 4 lokasi (8,9 %), yang mempunyai mutu I sebanyak 21 lokasi (46,7 %) dan mutu II 4 lokasi (8,9 %), untuk bahan baku pembuatan asam fosfat terdapat sebanyak 11 lokasi (24,4 %), untuk bahan baku pembuatan pupuk SP-36 sebanyak 14 lokasi (31,1 %).

Untuk keperluan tertentu, endapan fosfat di daerah Madura perlu mengalami proses benefisiasi baik untuk meningkatkan kadar P2O5 maupun untuk menghilangkan unsur/ senyawa pengotor lainnya sehingga endapan fosfat tersebut memenuhi syarat bagi keperluan tertentu.

Baik sebaran maupun jumlah sumberdaya endapan fosfat di daerah Madura relatif kecil, dengan demikian penambangannya hanya ekonomis untuk sekala kecil atau tambang rakyat. Untuk menghindari hal - hal yang tidak diinginkan perlu pemantauan dan penataan usaha penambangan bahan galian dalam sekala kecil.

Description and Tech. Specs:

Rock Guano phosphate is a natural, untreated soft phosphate with colloidal clay containing valuable minor minerals in addition to phosphorus. It is not acid forming, will not cake or harden and spreads easily through any type of lime, phosphate or fertilizer spreader. Phosphate Rock is not a complete fertilizer. It is an excellent source of phosphate that can be used profitably on certified organic farms. When applied to the soil Phosphate Rock adheres to and becomes a part of the soil. It will not leach and once applied, remains in the soil until used by the plants. Phosphate Rock contains no harmful acids and encourages growth of soil bacteria and earthworms.

• Application Rates

Rock Guano phosphate when purchased in granular form is much easier to apply. Apply Phosphate Rock any time per soil test recommendations. An average application rate is usually around 300 to 500 lbs. per acre.

This grade has been finely ground and processed through the modern granulating plant. Only natural materials are used to form the world's only granular soft phosphate product. The granulizing process includes the addition of water.
